Central Texas Basketball (CTB) is an all volunteer
nonprofit 501-c(3) league with over 20 years of youth
basketball experience. After many years of multiple
leagues in Austin such as Basketball Congress International
(BCI), Fastbreak, AAU, and Austin Summer League, the
combination of these groups formed one league what is
now called Central Texas Basketball. This organization
has one of the best High School
Team Tournament anywhere for high school girls
and boys called the Capital City
Showdown (CCS). CTB presents an opportunity for
youth to play in a basketball program that is very competitive.
With the high school tournament varsity league, spring
league and CTB summer league, we average about 2000
participants each year. The league has been recognized
by Austin Independent School District (AISD) and Austin
Parks and Recreation Centers as a community program.
They have given us permission to utilize AISD and recreation
facilities for league activities.
Our Mission
The mission of CTB is to improve basketball skills,
provide a positive environment, reinforce values, bridge
ethical, personal, and geographical barriers through
the benefits of basketball as well as its opportunities
for all youth. Participants comes from the Austin area,
surrounding cities, and across the state. CTB programs
are intended to provide all participants an appropriate
level of competition. Youth from 5th grade through seniors
in high school will be given a chance to play basketball
in an atmosphere promoting self esteem. The league is
run by an all volunteer group and all money raised goes
directly to support league activities.
Sponsors
Sponsorship is essential to cover planned and proposed
activities not supported by registration fees. CTB will
acknowledge corporate sponsors who participate by media
advertising, banners displays, etc. One of the main
goals for CTB is to have sponsors for the Capital City
Showdown Girls and Boys Basketball Tournament. Because
it is for high school teams, high school coaches locally,
state, nationally and international consider it to be
one of the best tournaments around. This requires front
end funding for deposits, printing, advertising, T-shirts
and various other administrative cost.
